As summer is winding down, I decided to write the following poem to capture the beauty and bittersweet nature of its final days.

Goodbye Summer

Goodbye Summer

The days grow shorter, the breeze turns cool,
The leaves are changing, like nature's rule,
Golden sunsets, begin to fade,
Marking the close, of summer’s parade.

Barefoot walks on sandy shore,
Now just a memory, we’ll explore,
The sun’s warm kiss, now soft and light,
Giving way, to the crisp autumn night.

Laughter echoes, from days gone by,
Underneath the bright, blue sky,
But as the nights, grow long and deep,
Summer’s fading, into restful sleep.

We say goodbye, to endless rays,
To starry nights, and carefree days,
But hold them close, in our heart's core,
Until next summer, when we'll dance once more.

I enjoy writing simple rhyming poetry that people can easily share with their loved ones. I live in Toronto with my loving wife and two curious, adventure-seeking daughters.
