Cemetery Guard
He walked the night shift,
as a cemetery guard.
His work was quiet,
he chose this card.
Ambitious and young,
hoped to police them all.
With piercing eyes,
he was strong and tall.
Foolishly brave,
the night shift he preferred.
Horror stories,
about his cemetery he heard.
He walked the same route,
on Halloween night,
Graves have been opened,
yet he didn’t show fright.
The creatures of death,
approached him with fear.
He was their master and vampire,
this was horribly clear.

That was a poem about a nightshift cemetery security guard who also ended up being a vampire, who controlled all of the undead creatures at his cemetery.
This poem is not very graphic so I think it’s ok to share it with the older kids. I’m going to email it to my 10 year old niece so that she may share it with her friends at school on this spooky Halloween school day. I’m sure the kids have a lot of Halloween themed activities planned on this frightening Monday, October 31, 2011.
